Oregon 75 Ice Cream Floats by Baking The Goods

Woof. The dog days of summer are here and these dogs are barking. I just got back from a trip up to Oregon a few days ago and the weather was warm, pleasant and manageable. Since the moment I arrived in Santa Barbara I have been hot and sweaty. Yes, it's coastal and cools down at night but I've been running hot all week.

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest so Tillamook Creamery and all of their glorious products have been a staple in my life as long as I can remember. At a young age I got hooked on that classic golden block of Tillamook Cheddar. Even as a young kiddo, I was able to recognize that there was something special about Tillamook cheese that other brands just didn't seem to have, even if I didn't have the taste profile or vocabulary to express it.

I lived in Portland for 12 years so many a trip to the Oregon coast were accompanied by a stop at the Tillamook Cheese Factory. The tour was always an event, watching the cheese making process was mesmerizing. We'd leave the factory with armloads of cheese varieties and fistfuls of ice cream cones. For the record, Tillamook Cheese Curds and foot long Tillamook Pepperoni sticks make the best road trip snacks, I speak from years of experience.

Being the Tillamook fan girl that I am, I was over the cheese moon when I was asked to partner with Tillamook this summer to create a recipe using Tillamook Ice Cream. The Tillamook Oregon Strawberry Ice Cream pulls at my Oregon loving heartstrings so I knew I had to create something special with my favorite flavor. These Oregon 75 Ice Cream Floats are so dangerously simple to make that I find myself craving them every night since I first made them.

Ice cream is nostalgic by nature, it instantly makes you feel like a kid at any age. There was nothing like using all of your upper body strength to hold up a frosty mug filled with an oversized Root Beer Float as a kid. Ordering a mug of "beer" made you feel like a grown up but you were still sneaking in dessert so it was extra special. Now that I’m a grown-up, I want to transport back and feel like that way again, so I've come up with an adult beverage that makes you feel like a kid again. One of my favorite cocktails is the French 75 - a mix of champagne, gin, lemon & sugar. My Oregon 75 Ice Cream Floats add a fun twist to the that classic cocktail, by floating 2 scoops of Tillamook Oregon Strawberry Ice Cream in to create a boozy ice cream float.

These Oregon 75 Ice Cream Floats are a sophisticated take on the traditional root beer float and blur the lines between adulthood and childhood favorites. There is no better way to cool down and chill out than sharing a full frosty glass of Oregon 75 Ice Cream Floats with your nearest and dearest on a hot summer night. Fair warning though, once you've had these Oregon 75 Ice Cream Floats, you will never want champagne without ice cream again.

This post was made is in partnership with Tillamook. Follow Tillamook on Instagram,  Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or check out tillamook.com to shop their impressive lineup of ice creams, cheeses and so much more!

Thank you for supporting the brands that I love!
